En una reciente entrevista para el diario «Noticias de Guipuzcoa», al norirlandés Neil Hannon, voz y alma de la banda de éxito «The Divine Comedy» con 30 años de recorrido musical, encontramos una respuesta muy ELOcuente a la pregunta que le hace el entrevistador:
A propósito de sus influencias, ha dicho que Scott Walker fue «una de las únicas verdaderas obsesiones» que ha tenido nunca. Pero, ¿tiene alguna otra influencia, músicos o grupos que admire?
–Tengo muchos héroes. Scott era distinto, porque era como un icono y estaba casi más allá de la música. Pero diría que incluso Jeff Lynne y E.L.O. –Electric Light Orchestra– fueron una parte importante de mi influencia. También los compositores de bandas sonoras. Ennio Morricone es una influencia enorme en lo que hago. Es una confluencia extraña de diferentes géneros musicales que me gustan: bandas sonoras, orquestas de los 60, el pop y el synth- pop de finales de los 70 y principios de los 80; eso lo adoro. También soy hijo de la música indie de finales de los 80, como Pixies, R.E.M., My Bloody Valentine, Ride… Me encantan todos ellos. Y también mucha música clásica, jazz y musicales de los 70.
Destacamos que «The Divine Comedy» estrena nuevo disco, Charmed Life, una retrospectiva con 24 de sus temas más icónicos, que presentan en una gira europea con casi medio centenar de conciertos.

Speaking of his influences, he has said that Scott Walker was "one of the only real obsessions" he ever had. But do you have any other influences, musicians or bands that you admire?
I have many heroes. Scott was different, because he was like an icon and he was almost beyond music. But he would say that even Jeff Lynne and E.L.O. –Electric Light Orchestra– were an important part of my influence. Also the composers of soundtracks. Ennio Morricone is a huge influence on what I do. He's a weird confluence of different genres of music that I like: soundtracks, '60s orchestra, late-'70s-early-'80s pop and synth-pop; I adore that. I am also the son of theindie music from the late 80s, like the Pixies, R.E.M., My Bloody Valentine, Ride… I love all of them. And also a lot of classical music, jazz and musicals from the 70s.
We highlight that "The Divine Comedy" premieres a new album, Charmed Life, a retrospective with 24 of their most iconic songs, which they present on a European tour with almost fifty concerts.
