Carter & The Beats es el nombre con el que se da a conocer a través de Youtube un joven músico americano que publicó una curiosa versión del tema de ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA «Mr. BLUE SKY», interpretada con un «otamatone», un divertido instrumento musical electrónico japonés.
El otamatone es un instrumento musical de origen japonés que tiene el cuerpo forma de corchea, con una «boca» sobre la cabeza de la nota musical. Para tocar música, hay que utilizar las dos manos: una mano sostiene y estrecha la «cabeza», la otra controla el tono de la nota al deslizar el dedo en toda la longitud de una barra que actúa como el diapasón de un violín; una posición más elevada sobre el diapasón produce un tono más grave. La variación de la presión sobre la cabeza (abriendo y cerrando la «boca» del instrumento) crea un efecto de wah-wah, y sacudiendo el «cuello» (variando ligeramente la presión sobre la «cabeza») crea un efecto de vibrato. The otamatone is a musical instrument of Japanese origin that has a body shaped like an eighth note, with a "mouth" over the head of the musical note. To play music, you have to use both hands: one hand holds and shakes the "head", the other controls the pitch of the note by sliding your finger along the entire length of a bar that acts like the fingerboard of a violin; a higher position on the fretboard produces a lower tone. Varying the pressure on the head (opening and closing the “mouth” of the instrument) creates a wah-wah effect, and shaking the “neck” (slightly varying the pressure on the “head”) creates a vibrato effect.
