«Mr. BLUE SKY» – The Harvard Krokodiloes
Los Kroks tienen sus raíces en el Hasty Pudding Club, fundado en 1770 y reconocido como la organización social universitaria más antigua de Estados Unidos. El club se construyó sobre la base de tradiciones de hermandad, vino y poesía, una combinación que llevó a cuatro de sus miembros con mayor inclinación musical, en 1946, a trasladar dichas tradiciones al mundo de la armonía. Inspirados por los cocodrilos disecados que adornaban la pared del bar del piso superior del Pudding, estos pioneros cantantes adoptaron la palabra griega para cocodrilo, y así nacieron los Krokodiloes.
Desde entonces, este grupo de doce estudiantes universitarios ha llevado la música popular del Gran Cancionero Americano, así como aires más tradicionales, a públicos de todo el país y del mundo. Los Krokodiloes se enorgullecen de su excelencia musical y su profesionalismo en sus actuaciones. Su excelente musicalidad y energía juvenil, combinadas con su singular combinación de coreografía ágil y humor ingenioso, los han convertido en un éxito instantáneo dondequiera que se presenten.
Entre las celebridades que los Kroks han entretenido se encuentran Ella Fitzgerald, Yo-Yo Ma, la Princesa Grace y la Princesa Carolina de Mónaco, el Rey Bhumibol de Tailandia, Elizabeth Taylor, Julia Roberts y Leonard Bernstein, promoción de 1939 (quien compuso la música para el grupo). Han actuado en la Radio Pública Nacional, «Good Morning America», «The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson» y en televisión internacional.
Los Krokodiloes también cuentan con una extensa biblioteca de grabaciones que datan de sus inicios. Su repertorio musical ha variado considerablemente a lo largo de sus setenta años de historia, y hoy, los Kroks se enorgullecen de un repertorio definido vagamente por el «Gran Cancionero Americano y más allá».
Nuestro lema, conocido por Kroks y sus exalumnos de todo el mundo, fue establecido por el exalumno y exdirector musical Stuart Patterson (promoción del 79): ¡Nunc Est Cantandum! (¡Ahora es el momento de cantar!).

The Kroks trace their roots back to the Hasty Pudding Club, founded in 1770 and recognized as the oldest collegiate social organization in the United States. The club was built upon traditions of fellowship, wine, and poetry—a combination that led four of its more musically inclined members, in 1946, to carry those traditions into the world of harmony. Inspired by the stuffed crocodiles that adorned the wall of the Pudding’s upstairs bar, these pioneering singers adopted the Greek word for crocodile, thus giving birth to the Krokodiloes.
Since then, this group of twelve college students has brought popular music from the Great American Songbook, along with more traditional melodies, to audiences across the country and around the world. The Krokodiloes pride themselves on musical excellence and professionalism in their performances. Their outstanding musicianship and youthful energy, combined with a unique blend of agile choreography and clever humor, have made them an instant success wherever they perform.

Our motto, well known to Kroks and alumni around the world, was established by alumnus and former musical director Stuart Patterson (Class of ’79): Nunc Est Cantandum! (Now is the time to sing!)
The Harvard Krokodiloes have the gift of lifting the spirit and enriching everyday life. I cannot praise highly enough their musicianship, versatility, sense of style, and dedication to excellence.
