Se escuchó decir a través de internet, antes del comienzo de la última GIRA o MINI-TOUR de despedida de ELO/JEFF insinuaciones sobre el posible lanzamiento de un nuevo álbum de JEFF LYNNE, que podría llenar el próximo otoño de nueva música ELO, pero, después de lo ocurrido y las posibles secuelas que puedan quedarle a JEFF es algo que hoy no se sustenta como para tenerla muy en cuenta. Hasta manifestaron que los nuevos LPs de colores fueron una escala para entretener a los fans entre los últimos cinco conciertos y hasta que llegase ese otoño sonoro tan especial pero, ¿qué hay de cierto en ello? Nada indica a estas alturas que pueda hacerse realidad. El problema nuestro es que «La esperanza» nunca la perdemos…

Quizá sea muy pronto para que ocurra algo así, e incluso no sea posible que se produzca en adelante. La vida se acelera y se pierden las oportunidades cada día que pasa. JEFF incluso llegó a insinuar que necesitaba un tiempo en su estudio para dar por finalizado un proyecto que daría por finalizada la última etapa de su gira, pero al trastocarse ésta seguro que implicó a todo lo demás…

Si tenemos en cuenta el tiempo necesario entre la finalización del posible nuevo material y su distribución en los puntos de venta, se puede considerar que podrían pasar unos seis meses más o menos. Esto, que hubiese podido llevarnos a final de año desde el último concierto de despedida en Londres y que fue suspendido a causa de fuerza mayor, y donde la casa discográfica suele lanzar a sus artistas más emblemáticos, a estas alturas nos llevaría quizá a la primavera próxima a más tardar.

Rob Caiger, si todavía continúa en nómina, insinuó hace bastante tiempo que tenía intención de presentarle a JEFF el lanzamiento de un recopilatorio de archivo de 5 CDs de IDLE RACE ANTHOLOGY, aún repitiendo lo ya editado anteriormente y la reedición ampliada de THE BIRTHDAY PARTY en Grapefruit, aunque JEFF no pareció mostrar mucho entusiasmo por esa etapa de su carrera musical.

Lo único que nos queda es esa esperanza cada día más lejana de que, una vez se haya acomodado de forma definitiva y recuperado totalmente, JEFF esté dispuesto a destapar el baúl de grabaciones y material ELO descartado y de todo ello, priorice la calidad sobre la cantidad, pudiendo lanzar alguna que otra bombilla de forma esporádica, siendo difícil que cree un conjunto de temas nuevos en forma de álbum de estudio de estreno mundial.

…pero todo esto es una mera ilusión debido a esa «Esperanza» que no nos abandona, ni queremos perder en ningún momento… Así somos… Somos los FANS de un GENIO. Los FANS de JEFF LYNNE que se niegan a resignarse a que ya todo está perdido y continúan esperando esa noticia de resurrección que nos vuelva a elevar a los ciELOs una vez más, aunque ésta sea la última.

It was heard across the internet, before the start of ELO/JEFF’s final FAREWELL TOUR or MINI-TOUR, that there were hints about a possible release of a new JEFF LYNNE album — one that could fill the coming autumn with new ELO music. However, after what has happened and the possible aftereffects that JEFF might still be dealing with, such an idea no longer seems to have any solid basis. Some even claimed that the new colored LPs were meant as a way to entertain fans between the last five concerts and the arrival of that very special musical autumn. But how much truth is there in all of this? At this point, nothing indicates that it will come to pass. The problem is that “hope” is something we never lose…
Perhaps it’s still too soon for something like that to happen — or maybe it will simply no longer be possible. Life speeds up, and opportunities slip away with each passing day. JEFF even hinted that he needed some time in his studio to complete a project that would mark the conclusion of the final stage of his tour. But since the tour was disrupted, that surely affected everything else as well…
If we take into account the time required between finishing the potential new material and its distribution to retailers, we could estimate around six months or so. That would have brought us to the end of the year from the final farewell concert in London — which was canceled due to force majeure — the time when record labels usually release albums by their most iconic artists. At this point, though, that would take us to next spring at the latest.
Rob Caiger, if he is still on the payroll, hinted quite some time ago that he intended to propose to JEFF the release of a 5-CD archive collection titled IDLE RACE ANTHOLOGY — even if it repeated previously released material — along with an expanded reissue of THE BIRTHDAY PARTY on Grapefruit. However, JEFF didn’t seem particularly enthusiastic about that stage of his musical career.
The only thing left to us is that ever-fading hope that, once JEFF has fully settled and recovered, he might be willing to open up the chest of ELO recordings and unreleased material — and from all of it, prioritize quality over quantity, perhaps releasing a few “light bulbs” now and then. Still, it’s unlikely that he would create a full set of brand-new songs in the form of a world-premiere studio album.
…but all of this is merely an illusion born from that “Hope” that never leaves us — nor do we ever wish to lose it. That’s who we are… We are the FANS of a GENIUS. The FANS of JEFF LYNNE, who refuse to resign themselves to the idea that all is lost, and continue waiting for that resurrection news that will lift us once again to the skELOs.
