ELOSPAIN:
In an interview for CLASSIC ROCK music magazine dated April 21, 2013, Matt Wardlaw asks JEFF LYNNE several interesting questions. Of course we suggest reading the entire interview through the official website from the link, but from here we highlight some issues about it that may be more relevant to the ELO/JEFF world.
After highlighting a rather lavish musical career in which he names ELO before delving into JEFF's musical production for other world-renowned artists such as Dave Edmunds, George Harrison, Traveling Wilburys, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Joe Walsh… JEFF responds to various questions that Matt proposes.
He comments that he is very proud of his solo album "ARMCHAIR THEATER" and that it is a compliment that Matt sees a very present Roy Orbison influence in the song "Every Little Thing", which he did not think of Roy when he wrote it. He talks about the reasons why he has re-recorded some of ELO's classic songs and the possibilities currently offered by digital recordings with which you can achieve things that used to take a week of work and are now done in 20 seconds. .
Regarding the new work of unpublished songs by him, he assures that he already has eight finished songs, although he can never say that they are completely finished because untilthat are thrown there is always something that can be done with them. Inspiration comes when you least expect it.
Regarding LONG WAVE, he admits that he is very happy with the response from the people and, although it took him about three years to finish it, he really enjoyed making it in the studio. He talks about his father and his first guitar, and how he learned to play it.
The final part of the interview refers to the release of the new album with unpublished songs, which he says he expects to be released at the end of the year, stating his interest in it being in the fall. That he doesn't directly give up performing a live concert, even if it's only a couple of them without committing to the fact that it could be real and that he continues to love working in the studio.
JEFF's last sentence is about writing a great song. "A very big one. I wish I could. I'm on it now. We'll see. One of these days…
