ELO Bootlegs / Orchestral Encounters Of The Electric Kind (cuarta parte)

ELOSPAIN:
Fourth and final album (double LP) of this E.L.O. collection released by the bootleg label "Jest Records" in 1978, with the number EL 1800, and this time "made in England."
It belongs to a concert from the '78 UFO tour in Las Vegas, although the last three songs are from another concert a few days later in Philadelphia, recreating the setlist of the same concert.
The presentation is again a single loose sheet attached to a simple folder with no other text, just like the vinyl labels.
The cover design is directly influenced by the UFO fever of the movie "Close Encounters of the Third Kind," very popular in that year 1978, showing a montage of the movie's advertising poster with a photo of E.L.O. live during the Eldorado era, with the E.L.O. UFO logo at the end of the road leading to Devil's Tower, where encounters in the third phase took place. (Space-Rock at its finest).
A note at the top recommends that (due to its "illegality"), this LP is not intended or made to be "played" by radio stations and is only for promotional use.

Noteworthy is the great work of Bev Bevan (in Can't Get It Out Of My Head, among others), a great master (and a personal influence of the one writing these lines), entirely irreplaceable even in current E.L.O. moments…

More pirate stories…
It would be interesting to comment on the different types of bootlegs since, although they are often lumped together in the same "package," there are several types: bootlegs, pirates, and counterfeits.
A bootleg consists of unpublished material recorded from concerts, radio and television broadcasts (broadcasts), and/or discarded studio takes (outtakes). These editions were sometimes tolerated by the bands themselves, who, due to contracts or other reasons, couldn't release an official live recording, and this was the only way for such material to see the light.
Although they used to be small print runs (when only vinyl existed), nowadays, with CDs, it's much easier to make larger runs (who doesn't have a CD burner…?)
A pirate album is a version of a regular edition but without trying to recreate the "look" like the original.
And finally, a counterfeit is an exact copy of an official edition.
